I am trying to document exactly who Captain Andrew Lewis, 121st Regiment of Virginia Militia from Botetourt County, was. Is He Andrew Lewis, Jr., son of Gen Andrew Lewis of Salem?

My ancestor, Col. Robert Blakey , d. 17 Feb 1834, is buried at the Blakey-Eubank Family Cemetery at Roseberry near Saluda, Virginia. This cemetery stands in an area of Middlesex County, Virginia, known in earlier days as “The Forest.” It is located west of Lovers Retreat Road, Rt. 618, near Forest Chapel Methodist Church, on the old Roseberry property of the Blakeys. He was a Captain in the 108th Virginia Regiment, Middlesex Troop, during the War of 1812. He was also later Presiding Justice of the Middlesex County Court and Sheriff. There is a plaque honoring him and his father, Churchill Blakey, in the Old Middlesex County court building in Saluda, Virginia. I would be happy to provide a photo of the plaque.

My ancestor Benjamin Berry had a marker dedicated by the VA 1812 Members and is not on this list. Benjamin Berry. Pvt. Capt. Walton’s NJ Militia Capt. Harrison’s VA Militia (Amer. Rev.) 1758-Dec. 14 1834. I had this marker placed at Keezletown Cemetery and dedicated on August 4, 2007.

Sorry I provided the wrong man. That was for the American Revolution. The 1812 ancestor was his son John S. Berry.

  4. Randall Huber says:

My 3 times great grandfather, Pvt. Michael Miller, served in Capt. Henry Welch’s Co of the 116th Virginia Militia from 15 June- 15 Sept, 1813, and 5th Virginia Militia from 13 Jul- 25 Oct, 1814 during the War of 1812. He received adjacent land warrents of 80 acres for each tour of service, which property still is intact. He was born 7 Dec, 1790 in Cootes Store, Rockingham Co, VA, and died 10 Dec, 1855 at same place. He and his wife Phoebe Jones Miller (1807-1893) are buried at Solomon’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Forestville, Shenandoah Co., VA. He appears on your current spread sheet of burials in VA but with none of his information. Perhaps that can be added to the list. I am currently going through the membership process here in Georgia
    Thank you,
    Randall Huber
