   I am the President of the non profit Fairfax County Cemetery Preservation Association.We are creating data bases of burial information for county veterans on our website. See above.
   Recently we have added info of 400+ Civil War veterans buried in our county. See Civil War Honor Roll on our website. I was excited to find your organization’s CD for the War of 1812 veteran burials in the Virginia Room at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. We would like your society’s permission to use the information for the Fairfax County men and create an expanded data base for our website. We would of course, cite your work as a reference. When available we would add epitaphs, property ownership info, news headlines etc. associated with each county veteran. Please let me know if we have your permission. Mary Lipsey 703-321-1824

     Mary:
     You have the Society’s approval. However, depending on the date of the CD you possess is whether you have our latest information. The latest we have is dated September 2013. By February 2014 another up-dated CD is planned to be prepared. On each of these CDs, deletions and additions are posted. I assume you have our Society book “Burials of War of 1812 Veterans in the Commonwealth of Virginia” dated October 2012. If not and you desire to purchase a copy from the Society contact me. The CD mentioned is an up-date of the book, pending the publication of an addendum or volume. The latest CD will be furnished with each book purchased.

   To whom it may concern,
   About ten years a go I was contacted by a member of your organization regarding the grave of my 6th great grand father Wyatt Thacker. He stated that there was a record of him being a veteran of the War of 1812 and that your society would like to place a marker on his grave. In the interim his grave has been discovered in Roseland Virginia and the local Ruritan Club is cleaning the cemetery when his grave is to honor some confederate solider buried there. I was wondering if Wyatt Thacker’s records still exist and what it would take to get a War of 1812 marker put on his grave … regards Allen J Thacker

     The 1812 grave marker costs about $70 and if you are a society member probably at no cost. Why don’t you join so we can arrange a marker unveiling ceremony for him?
