    My ancestor Micajah Dooley/Duley enlisted in the War of 1812 on August 25, 1814 and was discharged on Nov 24, 1814. He fought with the 1st Taylor’s Virginia Militia. Micajah Dooley was a Priviate in Capt. Michael Coyle’s Company of Light Infantry. Would you know what battles this company may have fought in?

      Cindy: The source for my reply is Stuart L Butler’s book “A Guide to Virginia Militia Units in the War of 1812” 2nd Edition 2011. Capt Coyle’s company from Frederick County was part of Lt Col Griffin Taylor’s 1st VA Regiment. General Winder of the 10th Military District in MD gave orders in August 1814 for the regiment to occupy points along Ferry Branch, southwest of Fort McHenry. The British landing force in attacking Baltimore did not come ashore at this position, thus the regiment did no engage the British forces’
